For Current Students
Current Bridges to Doctorate students can find links to course schedules, financial aid information and other useful information here.
Current students pursing an Master of Science degree in biology can view admission and degree requirements in the Graduate Catalog.
Your 30 credits must include the following courses:
- Professional Aspects
- Graduate Seminar
- At least one course (GPLS 716 Genomics and Bioinformatics) taken at the University of Maryland School of Medicine (UMSOM)
Bridges to the Doctorate students must also participate in the following activities:
- Attend at least two research seminars at UMSOM each semester
- Participate in lab skills boot camp and journal club with Bridges to the Baccalaureate program in June
- Present research both locally and nationally
- Take part in a four-week mini-rotation in UMSOM lab during July of first summer
- Attend workshops on abstract and poster preparation and scientific writing at UMSOM during rotation
- Complete the GRE prep course
- Meet with the mentoring committee for guidance on completing M.S. and applying for Ph.D. programs
