Towson University releases 150th anniversary historical book

The book of photos beautifully commemorates 150 years of Towson University

The 150th Anniversary Steering Committee is proud to release “Towson University: The First 150 Years,” a photo book celebrating the 150th anniversary of the founding of the Maryland State Normal School, now known as Towson University.

The 150-page publication chronicles the rich history of the institution and the advancements made under its various leaders before looking ahead at TU's vision for future growth and global impact.

Creating a book spanning 150 years took a group of dedicated individuals led by Dean Esslinger, Ph.D., a retired professor of history and associate vice president of International Programs. Former university archivist Nadia Nasr, university archives associate Felicity Knox and retired Provost James Dilisio, Ph.D., worked with Esslinger to craft an outline, develop story ideas and write features. Towson University graphic designers Michelle Stidham and Daryana Rudenko pieced together beautiful and exciting pictures into a stunning design.

The 150th anniversary book is priced at just $25.00 and is available at the university store and online

A book release party is scheduled for Tuesday, March 8 at 6:00 p.m. in Albert S. Cook Library, Towson Room. It is open to the public.

Additional information can be obtained through the 150th Anniversary Celebration Office or online.
