Career Center ready to help TU students 'Suit Up'

Towson's free business suit giveaway will help college students as they look for jobs and internships.

Towson University has always looked out for its students. Now with the help of the Career Center, TU is looking to give them the suits off their backs.

The Career Center will host “Suit Up!” on March 4 from 8 a.m. - 5p.m. and on March 5 from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. The event will provide free gently used business suits to Towson University students who made an appointment with the Career Center.

There are no appointments available for Friday, but students can still RSVP for an appointment on Saturday, through Hire@TU.

Through this program the Career Center is hoping to help students make a great first impression in the business world and to help students build confidence when going out for interviews.

Towson students are used to looking casual on campus. Unfortunately, that type of attire isn’t appropriate in the business world.

Another problem for students is that many of them don’t have the necessary funds to get proper business attire needed for networking events, interview for jobs and internships, and for the first day of employment.

The Career Center has been collecting suits for the past several months, with donations coming from the Towson community and through a partnership with Enterprise Rent-a-Car, who had collection bins at their local offices.

This is one of many events that the Career Center puts on to help students prepare for life after college. The next big event coming up is the Spring Mega Job and Internship Fair at SECU Arena on March 23.
