Roxanne Russo '77 says good-bye after 41 years in the same classroom

Towson University alumna Roxanne Russo retired after 41 years teaching first grade at Middleborough Elementary School in Essex, Maryland.

Towson University early childhood education graduate Roxanne Russo walked off of campus in 1977 right into a first grade classroom at Middleborough Elementary School in Essex, Maryland.

She stayed for 41 years in the exact same room.

She has now taught generations of the same families in a community that embraced her like one of their own, she told The Baltimore Sun.

“She’s the greatest teacher in the whole wide world,” said Jaiden James, whose mother Danielle Greifzu, was also one of Russo's pupils.
