Towson University President Kim Schatzel was recently named an Icon honoree by The Daily Record.

President Schatzel will be among 30 honored by the Baltimore-based publication at a December ceremony.

"This year’s Icon Honors recipients are longstanding members of the Maryland business community, 60 years of age or better. They are widely known for their notable success and demonstration of strong leadership, both within and outside their chosen fields," said Suzanne Fischer-Huettner, publisher of The Daily Record. "What they focus their attention on really matters; what they say is important; and what they do makes a difference for many of us in Maryland, nationally and sometimes internationally. The Daily Record is pleased to recognize their stellar achievements."

The Daily Record says the Icon Honors awards recognizes Maryland business leaders over the age of 60 for notable success and demonstration of strong leadership both within and outside of their chosen field.

Dr. Schatzel has served as the 14th president of TU since 2016. Her presidential priorities outline the trajectory for success for the fastest growing public university in Baltimore.

In 2017, The Daily Record honored President Schatzel as one of the paper's Most Influential Marylanders.
