More than a dozen Towson University staff and faculty members are being honored for their efforts and contributions to campus and higher education.

The University System of Maryland Board of Regents hosted their annual awards luncheon Tuesday, honoring finalists for system awards.

The finalists have been selected for their excellent work here at the university, all qualifying for the highest honor the USM Board of Regents distributes. Awards are presented based on the quality of work displayed by the nominee within their institution and their contributions within the category they are nominated. The nominees selected will receive a $2,000 prize and a plaque of recognition from the USM.

The finalists are chosen annually by TU staff and faculty selection committees who review the nominations. They are then sent to the president for consideration, and finally, to the USM for final selection.

The Staff Award nominations and TU finalist selections are due in January, TU submissions are due to the USM by February, and announcement of the award recipients takes place mid-July. Faculty nominations and TU finalist selections are due in October, TU submissions are due to the USM in November, and USM announcement of the Award Recipients begins in April.
