Tigers men's lacrosse to host Maryland

The Towson University men's lacrosse team earned the No. 6 seed in the NCAA tournament and will host in-state rivals Maryland this coming weekend in the opening round.

The Tigers host the Terps at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 12 at Johnny Unitas Stadium.

TU's squad learned its tournament seeding Sunday evening after taking care of business on the field the day before.

The Tigers won the Colonial Athletic Association championship on Saturday with a 16-14 win against Drexel. It was Towson University's eighth CAA title.

The win capped an 11-4 season and gave the Tigers an automatic bid to the national tournament. The national championship is set for Memorial Day in Philadelphia.

This isn't the first in-state battle this year for the Tigers. TU opened the season with a win against Johns Hopkins before defeating then-No. 1 Loyola. The Tigers also defeated regional rivals Delaware — twice.

This story is one of several related to President Kim Schatzel’s priorities for Towson University: TU Matters to Maryland.
