While campus may have been quieter in 2020, that didn't stop Towson University's digital media team from continuing its work behind the scenes in producing video projects that show off how the Tigers community remained #TUtogether[BROKEN LINK].

Despite challenges brought upon by the COVID-19 pandemic, the digital media team continued to produce award-winning work. Here are some of the team's favorite projects from the past year, and why they stood out.

Big Opportunities at TU

"Our most rewarding opportunities happen when the video team collaborates with our colleagues in University Marketing and Communications. The result is always something special. That was the case with this project. Our “Big Opportunities” campaign allowed us to explore all of TU and produce a snapshot of all the great things happening here on campus."

Tough Times Need Tigers

"My favorite video of 2020 was a collaboration with our associate vice president of marketing and brand strategy, Timm Baldwin, called “Tough Times Need Tigers.” We released this video in March, just after the statewide lockdown went into effect due to COVID-19. With an uplifting voice-over that we paired with shots of a recently emptied campus, this piece reinforced the strength of our TU community. With so much uncertainty in the world, this was the encouragement I needed.

The best part, and maybe the highlight of my career, was hearing about the reaction my coworker’s toddler had to the video. Every night before going to bed, she asked her mother to play the video, saying 'I want to see the tiger!' She watched it over and over until she fell asleep. I really can’t think of a better reaction than that!"

“From Towson, With Love: The Cooks' Story”

“It’s always a challenge to choose just one of my favorite videos of the year, but of all of the stories our team has worked on in 2020, 'From Towson, With Love: The Cooks’ Story' stands out in my mind. The story was a wonderful collaboration with TU Magazine. Up until this year, I had not been part of many remote video interviews and this video format was unique to me.

The Cooks, Brett and Kelly, are two Towson University alumni that fell in love on campus. Earlier this year, they were married virtually by their TU supervisor. To me, the story reinforces what I’ve always known deep down, that the Tiger community can still come together, even if remotely, to rise above hard times. During times like these especially, we need to remember that although we may be apart, we are not alone.”
