The Osher Excellence Fund, established in 2015, is used for special program expenses.
Nourishing this fund is our highest fundraising priority as it ensures that members
enjoy vibrant programming, classrooms equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, opportunities
to participate in intergenerational and interdisciplinary activities on Towson University's
campus, and special members-only trips and social gatherings.
A gift to the Lou Cedrone Memorial Fund recognizes the contributions of Lou Cedrone,
whose “Monday at the Movies” film series continued – always with a clever theme –
until his death in August 2015. Contributions help keep the film program going with
screenings, discussions and lectures all year round.
Gifts to the Osher Lifelong Learning Endowment help with staffing, honoraria for teachers
and other operating expenses. Your generosity also helps in organizing social and
cultural events and activities such as day trips to museums and places of historic
interest, luncheons, and special lectures, which give members an opportunity to socialize
and make new friends.
During her time working with TU's Center for Applied Information Technology, Patty
Beere Ruby was an invaluable member of the staff. She helped in developing contracts
and new projects, as well as writing grants and proposals for new initiatives. Patty
was also a champion for the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute. The Endowment in Patty's
honor continues to ensure the long-term promotion and celebration of Osher.
This endowment, created by longtime supporter Rex Rehfeld, supports a course in history,
politics, and economics—topics that are essential to understanding the world we live
in at any stage of life.
