Osher Committees
Osher is successful because of members who commit their time and energy by serving
on committees. Committee volunteer opportunities include:
- The Osher Advisory Council meets regularly to discuss and address issues that affect Osher’s future. The Advisory
Council makes recommendations on long-range planning and serves in an advisory capacity
to the director. Advisory Council members also act as ambassadors of the Osher program.
- The Curriculum Committee assists the director with planning the overall curriculum by developing ideas for
courses, lectures and workshops; evaluating and making decisions on submitted course
proposals; recommending appropriate instructors; and reviewing course evaluation results.
- The Membership Engagement Committee focuses on creating a welcoming environment for current and prospective Osher members.
This committee helps Osher staff plan and implement social activities, welcome new
members and foster a sense of community throughout the Osher program. A subcommittee
works to educate Osher members on the importance of supporting the Osher program through
charitable giving.
- The Day Trips Committee plans and executes trips that provide enrichment and may complement the Osher curriculum.
In conjunction with Osher staff, this committee arranges the details for each trip
including working with vendors and marketing the trips to Osher members. This committee
is a subcommittee of the Curriculum Committee.
- The Classroom Facilitation Committee members serve as classroom assistants to instructors by helping with classroom technology,
the distribution of handouts, communication of Osher announcements to the class and
helping to monitor attendance.
