What is Handshake?

Handshake is a searchable online database where students and alumni can search for full-time, internship, and part-time opportunities. Thousands of employers post their positions on Handshake. Students also can post their resumes, register for career events, and sign up for on-campus interviews – all through Handshake!

What are the benefits offered through Handshake?

You can view jobs and internship opportunities that could be beneficial to your students. You can also connect and network with area employers who are interested in recruiting Towson students.

Can I use Handshake to post a student employment opportunity in my office/department?

Yes, you can set up a Handshake employer account to post on-campus student employment opportunities for your office/department.

Can I use Handshake to help advise students looking for internships and jobs?

Yes, you can set up a Handshake student account to search for internships and jobs, following these instructions:

  1. Go to Handshake
  2. Click “Sign up for a New Account”
  3. Select the “Student / Alumni” account type
  4. Click “Register a New Account”
  5. Fill out your information using your TU email address and click “Confirm”
  6. Go to your email to “Confirm Your Email” from Handshake
  7. Next, the Career Center will review and approve your request within three business days
  8. Then you will receive an Approved email from Handshake giving you access to the system
  9. Make sure you select “Make Profile Private” so employers cannot search/view your profile
