Biography

Timothy Nelson teaches first-year composition and grammar courses. He has contributed to print and online journals, magazines, and newspapers. He has worked as a content editor and assistant editor for several publications and a literary press. In 2010 and 2011, Nelson won grants from the National Endowment for the Humanities to study landmarks of American history, focused on the Transcendentalist thinkers (Fuller, Emerson, Thoreau - Concord, MA) and the legacy of Black Mountain College (Robert Creeley, Langston Hughes, Charles Olson - Ashville, NC).

His poems have appeared in Cholla Needles; Poets’ Ink, a Maryland State Poetry and Literary Society broadside; and the online journal, Yes, Poetry. Interviewing Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull is a personal highlight in his music journalism.

In addition to teaching writing, his work experience includes seven years in motion picture production and six years in sales and marketing.
