Biography
Kottie Gaydos is an interdisciplinary artist whose work investigates the relationships between vulnerability and healing in the body as well as systems of visual and linguistic translation. In addition to her art practice and teaching, Gaydos serves as Curator and editor-in-chief of special publications at the Detroit Center for Contemporary Photography (DCCP).
Her work has been exhibited across the U.S., China and Japan and is included in private and public collections, including the Cranbrook Museum of Art. Recent exhibitions include Shapeshifters: Transformations in Contemporary Art, Cranbrook Art Museum (Bloomfield Hills, MI) and In Praise of Shadows: Jun’ichiro Tanizaki and Modern and Contemporary Art, Academy Art Museum (Easton, MD).
Gaydos holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography and Creative Writing from the Maryland Institute College of Art and a Masters of Fine Arts in Photography from the Cranbrook Academy of Art.
