Admission Criteria
- No GRE scores are required.
- A minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.00 (on a 4-point scale) is required for full admission
to the program, and 2.75 is required for conditional admission. GPA calculations may
be based upon the cumulative units or the last 60 units of the degree. See graduate admission policies for more information.
- Undergraduate degree (B.A. or B.S.) in a related area (i.e. biology, chemistry, geology,
or environmental science)
- Students without an undergraduate degree in a related area are required to complete
the following courses, in consultation with the graduate program director, with a
minimum GPA of 2.75:
- two terms of introductory biology with laboratory
- two terms of introductory chemistry with laboratory
- one term of statistics OR one term of calculus.
- A baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
Application Requirements
Submit an online application, application fee and official transcripts, along with:
- Letters of Recommendation: Three letters of recommendation from individuals who are in a position to evaluate
your academic potential in this field (Email addresses of recommenders must be entered
on application).
- Personal Statement: A one page statement in which you discuss your career goals and how this graduate
program will help you achieve them.
Additional Requirements for International Applicants
U.S. Immigration requires F1 and J1 students to be enrolled full-time with the majority
