TU’s Christina Romano is at the head of the class

Romano, a STEM education and outreach specialist for the TU Center for STEM Excellence, won a national excellence in teaching award

Towson University’s Christina Romano received the inaugural Outstanding Educator of the Year award at the national Mobile Lab Coalition (MLC) annual meeting in Columbus, Ohio, over the summer.

Romano, a STEM education and outreach specialist for the TU Center for STEM Excellence, won the award for engaging in innovative teaching and learning, using reflective teaching practice, pursuing professional growth and leadership and bringing unique contributions to the MLC member organization and/or program.

The Towson University Center for STEM Excellence provides outreach programs to Maryland's K–12 schools and is committed to engaging, exciting and educating Maryland's elementary, middle and high school students in science. Two of our most long-standing and well-known programs are the SciTech Student Learning Lab, a program housed within the Columbus Center in Baltimore's Inner Harbor, and the Maryland Loaner Lab program. We also offer a variety of professional development opportunities[BROKEN LINK] for science teachers in Maryland.
