Equipment Loan Programs

The Center for STEM Excellence offers Maryland elementary, middle, and high school science teachers access to a variety of free science kits that bring hands-on, inquiry-based investigations into the classroom—each designed to support the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).

Each kit includes all necessary equipment, reagents, and curriculum. Kits are shipped directly to your school via FedEx and are returned after use—at no cost to you. 

Explore our three signature programs, each tailored for different grade levels and STEM disciplines:

Science is Elementary (SIE) | Grades 3-5

Designed for elementary teachers, Science is Elementary delivers a variety of hands-on classroom investigation kits, allowing students to explore science and engineering through real-world problems. No training required.

HiTech Loaner Lab (HTLL) | Grades 3-12

HiTech Loaner Lab provides robotics kits that engage students in computational thinking, coding, and robotics through fun, hands-on learning.  HTLL teacher training required.

Maryland Loaner Lab (MDLL) | Grades 6-12

Maryland Loaner Lab offers middle and high school science kits complete with lab-grade materials and curriculum, giving students access to authentic lab experiences in the classroom. MDLL teacher training required.

How to Get Trained

Training Opportunties

The Maryland Loaner Lab and HiTech Loaner Lab programs are open to teachers that complete a training workshop. 

No training is required to request Science is Elementary. 

Custom Training Requests

Educators can request a custom training session, either at the Towson University Center for STEM Excellence or at their own school. 

  • A minimum of 15 participants is required.
  • Sessions must be scheduled for a 3-hour block
