New shuttle provides direct connection to Towson restaurants & farmers' market

Summer shuttle is operating Monday through Friday to expand lunchtime options

It’s a summer getaway that doesn’t cost a thing. This summer, TU is offering shuttle service to downtown Towson from Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The shuttle is free to students, faculty and staff with OneCards.

“This makes it easy for faculty, staff and students to enjoy lunch at the restaurants in downtown Towson or to visit the Thursday farmers’ market,” said Parking and Transportation Services Director Pam Mooney. “Last summer we offered the shuttle on Thursdays only, and it was so popular that it made sense to expand this year’s service to all weekdays.”

The shuttle began running this May and will continue until August 18. The three on-campus stops are at the bus shelters near the Towsontown Garage, Center for Arts and Administration Building. The downtown Towson stop is at the corner of Washington and Allegheny Avenues. Approximate pick-up and drop-off times for each stop are available on the Shuttle Services website.

The Towson farmers’ market sells fresh produce, meats, spices and baked goods from more than a dozen vendors. The market is located on Allegheny Avenue between Washington Avenue and the Towson circle. Allegheny Avenue is closed to vehicular traffic during the market.

There are dozens of restaurants, eateries and food carts in downtown Towson.
