Stephanie Prem is one of thousands of Towson University students who will walk across the stage during the 2022 spring Commencement ceremonies.

The computer science major is also one of the many TU students who have taken classes during summer session.

“In 2019, I took one summer class; in 2020, I took three; and in 2021, I took two, and it helped me improve my grade-point average,” Prem says. “The summer courses I took allowed me to complete my degree in four years.”

Summer session offers more than 700 classes, labs, internships and independent study programs.

This year it will begin on Tuesday, May 31, and feature class schedules in five-, seven- and 10-week sessions:

  • Ten-Week Session: May 31–Aug. 10
  • Seven-Week Session:  May 31 –July 21
  • Five-Week 1st Session: May 31 –July 6
  • Five-Week 2nd Session: July 7–Aug. 10

Current students who have a NetID can register using Towson Online Services.

For many current students, taking summer classes is a good way to get ahead and catch up.

Thanks to summer session, Sean Hanner will be graduating from the electronic, media and film department in just three years and is starting graduate school a year early.

“I was looking through PeopleSoft, and I realized that if I work through summer breaks and take an extra class during the year, it all adds up,” Hanner says. “[Taking summer classes] helped me not fall out of the school mindset that sometimes happens over the summer.”

Registration is open until May 31. Along with classes, many university services are available, including dining, housing, health services and campus recreation.

Towson University also offers a wide variety of summer classes for visiting students that provide easily transferable credits.

Visiting undergraduate students should complete an undergraduate non-degree enrollment form. Graduate students who are not pursuing a degree at Towson University but are interested in taking graduate-level courses must complete a graduate non-degree application. If you have questions, email .
