This template is provided for use by faculty to describe the Direct Access program within a syllabus.

Required Course Materials 

This course is participating in Direct Access. This means that all the required course materials for this class will be prepared for you. Digital materials are being delivered through the “My Materials” link in Blackboard and physical materials will be available for pickup as needed. Your student account will be charged automatically, and you will not need to make a separate purchase to acquire your required materials for this course.

  • Digital Materials: All required digital materials will be accessed through the My Materials link in Blackboard.
    • Digital eBooks: The My Materials link will launch you directly to your digital bookshelf on the eBook provider’s website.
    • Digital Courseware: The My Materials link will provide instructions to access the links set up by your instructor.
  • Physical Materials: You will receive an email confirming your materials are ready for pickup. Upon receipt of the email, please bring your Student ID to the online order pickup area at the Towson U Store to pick up your print course materials.
    • Note: If you drop this course or opt out of the program by the ADD/DROP deadline, you must return your physical course material to the campus store.

If you wish to opt out of this program for this course, please follow the steps below by [Month Date, Year of Opt-Out date/last day to process drops]:

  1. Go to the Customer Portal: Use this portal to manage your opt-out decision. The URL is emailed to you when the opt-out period opens, along with instructions.
  2. Create an account using your student email account
  3. Select Opt-Out to opt-out of the course. You will have an opportunity to opt back in if you choose to do so.
  4. You can also Opt-Out from the student-specific link provided in the email from noreply@follett.com. 
  5.  Watch a demonstration video of the opt-out process.

Important: If you opt out of the program, you will no longer have access to your required digital materials and will need to purchase these materials on your own. If you have physical (print) materials that you have already picked up from the Towson U Store, please return the physical material(s) to the campus store before you will be able to opt out and receive a refund.
