Chapter Conduct & Disciplinary Status

The fraternity and sorority chapters listed below have violated Towson University's Code of Student Accountability.

Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. 

University Charge Date: July 10th, 2026

Prohibited Conduct:

1. Student Accountability/6.e. Violation of other published Towson University regulations and policies./ Fraternity & Sorority Life Chapter Assessment Program

Sanctions include the following:

  • Suspension from Towson University through July 10th, 2027

Prior to the organization’s return to campus, representatives from the fraternity must meet with the Director of Fraternity and Sorority Life and other relevant staff.

Phi Beta Sigma will be on probation for 1 semester once they return.

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

University Charge Date: June 18th, 2026

Prohibited Conduct:

1. Student Accountability/6.e. Violation of other published Towson University regulations and policies./Fraternity & Sorority Life Intake or New Member Policy

2. Student Accountability/6.b.
Violation of the Hazing Policy (05-09.00).

3. Student Accountability/1.c.
Endangering behavior that imperils or jeopardizes the health or safety of any person or persons.

Sanctions include the following:

  • Suspension from Towson University through June 18th, 2031

Prior to the organization’s return to campus, representatives from the national fraternity must meet with the assistant vice president for Campus Life and other relevant staff, to submit a reorganization plan and be cleared to return to campus.

Additionally, upon return as a recognized campus organization Alpha Kappa Alpha will be on probation for 1 year.

Chi Phi

University Charge Date: June 11, 2025

Prohibited Conduct:

1. Student Accountability/3.a. Uncooperative behavior and/or failure to comply with reasonable instructions of University Officials acting in performance of their duties. 

2. Student Accountability/2.g. Action in association with, encouragement of, or complicity with another person whose behavior violates any policy. 

3. Student Accountability/2.a. Disruption or obstruction of teaching, research, administration, accountability proceedings, residence hall operations, or normal University operations, including University-sponsored activities or events. 

Sanctions include the following:

  • Suspension from Towson University through June 11, 2030

Prior to the organization’s return to campus, representatives from the national fraternity must meet with the assistant vice president for Campus Life and other relevant staff, to submit a reorganization plan and be cleared to return to campus.

Additionally, upon return as a recognized campus organization Chi Phi will be on probation for 1 year.

Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.

University Charge Date: March 19, 2025

Prohibited Conduct:

1. Student Accountability/6.e. Violation of other published Towson University regulations and policies./Fraternity & Sorority Life Intake or New Member Policy

2. Student Accountability/6.b.
Violation of the Hazing Policy (05-09.00).

3. Student Accountability/2.g.
Action in association with, encouragement of, or complicity with another person whose behavior violates any policy.

4. Student Accountability/1.c.
Endangering behavior that imperils or jeopardizes the health or safety of any person or persons.

5. Student Accountability/1.a.
Physical assault, causing physical harm to, or having unwanted physical contact with any person except in cases of self-defense. See definitions for Self Defense.

University Charge Date: March 19, 2025

Prohibited Conduct:

1. Student Accountability/4.a. Intentionally furnishing false or untruthful information to a University Official.

2. Student Accountability/3.a.
Uncooperative behavior and/or failure to comply with reasonable instructions of University Officials acting in performance of their duties.

3. Student Accountability/2.a.
Disruption or obstruction of teaching, research, administration,accountabilityproceedings, residence hall operations, or normal University operations, including University-sponsored activities or events.

Sanctions include the following:

  • Suspension from Towson University through September 19, 2030

Prior to the organization’s return to campus, representatives from the national fraternity must meet with the assistant vice president for Campus Life and other relevant staff, to submit a reorganization plan and be cleared to return to campus.

Additionally, upon return as a recognized campus organization Kappa Alpha Psi will be on probation for 1 year.

Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.

University Charge Date: May 24, 2023

Prohibited Conduct:

1. Student Accountability/3b. Violation of any disciplinary accountability action imposed by a university official

2. Student Accountability/ 3a Uncooperative behavior and/or failure to comply with reasonable instructions of University Officials acting in performance of their duties.

1. Student Conduct/6e. Violation of other published Towson University regulations and policies./Fraternity and Sorority Life Intake or New Member Policy and Fraternity & Sorority Life Social Events Policy

2. Student Conduct/6e. Violation of other published Towson University regulations and policies./Fraternity and Sorority Life expansion/reactivation policy

3. Student Conduct/6b. Violation of the Hazing Policy (05-09.00).

4. Student Conduct/1c. Endangering conduct that imperils or jeopardizes the health or safety of any person or persons.

5. Student Conduct/1.a. Physical assault, causing physical harm to, or having unwanted contact with any person.

  • Suspension from Towson University through May 24, 2028.

Prior to the organization’s return to campus, representatives from the national fraternity must meet with the assistant vice president for Campus Life and other relevant staff, to submit a reorganization plan and be cleared to return to campus.

Additionally, upon return as a recognized campus organization Omega Psi Phi will be on probation for 1 year.
