The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

“Commencement is my very favorite time of the year. For our students, it is a time of looking back at where they have come and looking ahead to where they are going,” says Towson University's 14th President Kim Schatzel.

“The season of Commencement brings us all together to celebrate our university and its traditions. As the bells of Stephens Hall ring to start the Commencement ceremonies, we are reminded that we are all Towson University Tigers and are assembled to witness the fulfillment of the dreams of our graduates and their loved ones. It is truly an emotional day and one filled with great joy.”

Three Days of Ceremonies

This year’s Commencement honored members of the 2021 summer and fall graduating classes, and members of the 2022 winter and spring graduating classes in three ceremonies. Over the three days, 3,550 undergraduate students and 487 graduate students crossed the Commencement stage.

Along with the outdoor ceremonies, TU held its first ever Doctoral Hooding Ceremony to honor 55 students who earned doctoral degrees over the past two academic terms.

Capturing Memories

Commencement is the biggest event on Towson University’s campus, with moments that will stay with students and their families for the rest of their lives.

Capturing those moments are the members of the TU Photographic Services team, who took thousands of photos showcasing thousands of TU’s newest graduates over the four ceremonies held during Commencement week. See some of their favorite photos from the week.
