International students comprise approximately four percent of the total student enrollment at Towson University. The number of international students at Towson doubled from 1995 to 2000, and tripled from 1991 to 2001
The International Student and Scholar Office aspires to advance the internationalization of Towson University by fostering transformative experiences for international students, scholars and visitors.
The International Student and Scholar Office endeavors to:
Maintain compliance of Towson University and our international faculty, students and staff with federal immigration regulations
Retain international students by coordinating services and programs that enhance their academic and co-curricular success
Integrate Towson University’s international population by providing the environment and opportunities for cross-cultural dialogue and engagement
Approximately 85 percent of the 500 plus international students are here for two to four years, working on an undergraduate or graduate degree. The additional students are enrolled at the English Language Center, are on an exchange semester or year from one of our international partner universities, or are participating in one of our short-term language and culture programs. Most of our visiting faculty and exchange visitors are here for a semester or a year.
Fall 2016, we have students from over 80 countries. Our top five countries are Saudi
Arabia, China, India, South Korea and Nigeria/United Kingdom.
