Education & Workforce Development
Building a cyber-skilled workforce is critical to the continued security of the nation across social, economic, and political domains. Towson University offers many programs and courses with a focus on cybersecurity.

Towson University and our faculty are on the forefront of national efforts to further cybersecurity education, including the ACM Joint Task Force on Cybersecurity Education and the ACM/IEEE-CS/AAAI CS2023 Joint Task Force on Computer Science Curricula, Security Subcommittee, and in leadership in several NSA CAE-C initiatives. Towson also led the national NSF CyberAI Program of Study guidelines creation.
CYBERSECURITY DESIGNATIONS
National Center of Academic Excellence
Towson University has been designated as a NSA National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense (CAE-CD) since 2002, in Cyber Operations (CAE-CO) since 2013, and Cyber Research (CAE-R) in 2026 by the National Security Agency/Department of Homeland Security. TU is one of only 21 institutions in the nation to receive the NSA Cyber Operations designation.
Towson University leads the newly established NSA CyberAI (CAE-CAI) Designation.
