Getting Started with ADS

We highly encourage students to initiate the process for registering with the ADS Office as early as possible after enrolling at the university. Students can register with ADS at any time during their academic career; however, accommodations are not retroactive. 

Please allow for up to two (2) weeks for staff to review new applications and to schedule new student intake appointments. During high-volume periods, such as the start of the semester, the response time may take longer.

How to Register

  • Submit an ADS application.
  • Upload documentation of your disability.
  • Based on the outcome of the review of your application, your approved accommodations will be implemented either through:
    • Detailed instructions sent to your TU email explaining how to access and use them
    • An invitation sent to your TU email to participate in an intake meeting with an ADS Specialist

What to Expect During an Intake Meeting

During your intake meeting, consideration will be given to your self-report, strengths and needs; academic experiences, the current program of study and courses in which you are enrolled, as well as your ideas regarding accommodations.

  • During the meeting, we will discuss the following:
    • Impact of your disability
    • History of using accommodations 
    • Requested accommodations
    • Approved accommodations
    • How to use accommodations
  • You will have the opportunity to schedule follow-up meetings with your specialist throughout your time at Towson.
