By course completion, you will be fully prepared to take and pass the CompTIA Linux+ certification exam (XK0-004). According to CompTIA™, Linux+ is the only Linux certification that covers foundational skills with performance-based questions that indicate competence.

The Linux+ exam is designed to assess the knowledge and job-specific skill of professionals who support and manage Linux systems. It provides coverage across a series of administrative functions that include: configuring, managing, operating and troubleshooting in a Linux environment. The Linux+ exam focuses on the following areas:

  • Security
  • Kernel Modules
  • Storage and virtualization
  • Enterprise-level device management
  • DevOps basics, through Git and automation
  • Networking and firewalls, especially involving security issues
  • Server-side and command line, for server management in a multi-server environment
  • Troubleshooting
  • SELinux, with a focus on implementation for security

Hardware Requirements

  • This course can be taken on either a PC or Mac.
  • Webcams are strongly recommended.

Software Requirements

  • PC: Windows XP or later.
  • Mac: OS X Snow Leopard 10.6 or later.
  • Browser: The latest version of Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox are preferred. Microsoft Edge and Safari are also compatible.
  • Microsoft Word (not included in enrollment).
  • Windows Media Player.

There are no prerequisites to take the course. However, CompTIA recommends having up to 12 months of hands-on experience as a Linux administrator before taking the Network+ certification exams.
