Research

Dr. Bies investigates stuttering and other fluency differences, as well as Tourette syndrome, with a particular interest in the internal experiences associated with these conditions and their relationship to communication. His research focuses on the anticipation of stuttering, or the internal sense that a moment of stuttering is forthcoming. His interests also include physical concomitants of stuttering, communication and fluency in Tourette syndrome, the impact of tics and the urge to tic on communication.
