Adjunct Faculty Employment

The Towson University Department of Nursing primarily recruits adjunct faculty to provide clinical instruction within our undergraduate and graduate nursing programs. Clinical adjunct faculty play a vital role in preparing the next generation of nurses by supervising and mentoring students in the healthcare settings.

Opportunities for simulation, laboratory, classroom (didactic), and online instruction may occasionally become available, but openings in these areas are infrequent.

Minimum requirements for clinical instruction: 

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required for undergraduate clinical instruction; master's degree preferred. 
  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) required for  graduate clinical instruction.
  • Official transcript of highest degree earned.
  • Current unencumbered RN license.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of professional nursing experience in the specialty area.
  • Ability to meet all facility and departmental compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrated competency in assigned clinical area. 

Minimum requirements for didactic instruction:

  • Master's degree in nursing required; terminal degree preferred. 
  • Current unemcumbered RN license or departmental approval.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of professional nursing expericence.
  • Teaching experience in higher education preferred.
  • Specialty certification desirable.
  • Competency in assigned area of teaching is mandatory.
  • Before teaching online all faculty members are required to comlete training through the  Faculty Academic Center of Excellence at Towson (FACET) . The FACET training is designed to streamline online courses and ensure course accessibility.
