Lutherville Lab Mentors
The Lutherville Lab Mentors program provides TU students with the opportunity to lead engaging sessions with 4th and 5th grade students at a local elementary school.

The Lutherville Lab Mentors program is a semester-long experience in which TU students participate in community-based learning at Lutherville Laboratory, a local elementary school. Participants engage in community-building and educational sessions with peers. With support from the Office of Civic Engagement and Social Responsibility and Lutherville Laboratory staff, participants also create fun and meaningful afterschool programming for 4th and 5th graders.
Application for Lutherville Lab Mentors
Apply by 11:59 pm on 2/6 to participate in the Spring 2026 cohort.
This opportunity is open to undergraduate and graduate students. Mentors plan interactive afterschool sessions for elementary students and participate in monthly community visits at Lutherville Laboratory.
“ The program contributed to the development of my leadership skills by showing me what it is like to plan something within a group. I liked how we incorporated everyone’s own unique ideas and changed them into something we collectively were proud of. ”
“ It showed me how I can lead in different aspects, like taking control of a situation but also asking for help when needed. It’ll benefit me as I want to work in the medical field which can be unpredictable. A good leader needs to know when to take control and when to ask for help. ”
