Professional Spanish Post-Baccalaureate Certificate

This 15-credit-hour post-baccalaureate certificate prepares graduates for careers that require proficiency in Spanish in education-related roles, in school administration, in manager roles, and in social and human services positions. Courses are taught remote synchronous with asynchronous options.

Through the post-baccalaureate certificate in professional Spanish, students gain a specialization at the graduate level in Spanish language, Hispanic cultures, and language acquisition, through courses including:

  • language acquisition
  • Spanish translation
  • creative writing in Spanish
  • Spanish in the community
  • Hispanic popular cultures
  • film and society in the Spanish-speaking world
  • Hispanic cultures in the media

The educational objectives of the program are to advance students’ language skills in Spanish to the Advanced level of oral and written proficiency and beyond, to further the students’ Hispanic cultural competence, to expose students to language acquisition theories, and to prepare a highly skilled and competitive workforce that can work with and serve a diverse population.
