Biography

Shimon Shokek earned his BA in Theatre, and BA, MA, and PhD in Philosophy, Ethics, and Mysticism from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

Professor Shokek is the author of six volumes in Hebrew and English -- among them are Jewish Ethics and Jewish Mysticism in Sefer ha- Yashar, Kabbalah and the Art of Being: the Smithsonian Lectures, and Repentance in Jewish Ethics. Dr. Shokek is also the author of two philosophical Hebrew novels, published in Israel.

Professor Shokek offers at the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies and at the Honors College a variety of courses in Judaic Studies and Comparative Religions.
