Research Interests

Dr. Kearse generally studies social perception, stereotyping and stigma using an intersectionality lens. Specifically, he is curious about the way that people form impressions and make judgments of others in light of their multiple social categories (e.g., Old and Woman or Black and gay), and the health consequences these cultural stereotypes have on multiply minoritized groups. He uses a variety of methods to explore these questions such as experiments, surveys, meta-science and qualitative inquiry.
