Biography

Hector Quintero is a lighting designer and theater technician originally from Los Angeles, California, now based in Baltimore, Maryland. With a strong foundation in both the artistic and technical aspects of live performance, Hector brings a dynamic and thoughtful approach to every project he undertakes. He earned his Master of Fine Arts in Lighting Design from the University of Missouri, Kansas City, where he developed a deep understanding of visual storytelling, stagecraft and collaborative design.

Throughout his career, Hector has worked extensively as a freelance theater technician, contributing his skills to a variety of respected venues and organizations. His technical work includes positions at the Carpenter Performing Arts Center, the Luckman Performing Arts Center and Musical Theatre West, where he supported a wide range of productions and gained hands-on experience in lighting, rigging and stage operations.

Hector also served as an assistant lighting designer with the Los Angeles Opera, where he collaborated with seasoned professionals on large-scale productions. This experience further refined his ability to work within complex creative teams and reinforced his commitment to excellence in theatrical design.

As a lighting designer, Hector’s portfolio reflects a diverse range of genres and performance styles. His design credits include Episodes and Four Seasons, Reimagined with TU Dance Company, In Essence (Senior Seminar), Annie JR., Disney’s Aladdin JR., Law and Order: The Musical!, The Music Man Dracula: A Song of Love and Death, La Voix Humaine and L’Enfant et les Sortilèges. Each project showcases his ability to craft evocative lighting environments that enhance narrative, mood and movement.

Hector is passionate about the power of light to shape audience experience and is continually exploring new technologies and techniques to push the boundaries of his craft. Whether working in opera, musical theater, or contemporary dance, he brings a collaborative spirit, technical precision and artistic sensitivity to every production.
