Biography
Esther Lee is a pianist, organist and harpsichordist with a diverse background in performance, collaboration and music education. Her musical interests span a wide range of repertoire, from the Baroque and Classical traditions to Romantic, modern and contemporary music. She has been active as a performer and collaborative musician in the United States for more than fifteen years, working extensively with vocalists and instrumentalists in recitals, lessons, masterclasses, chamber music and university performances.
Esther received her B.A. in Organ Performance from Presbyterian College and Theological Seminary in Seoul, Korea, and pursued advanced studies in harpsichord performance at the Korean National University of Arts and the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. She completed her Konzert Examen in harpsichord performance at the Musikhochschule Lübeck in Germany. Her studies in Korea and Europe provided her with a broad musical perspective and extensive experience with both historically informed performance practices and a wide range of keyboard repertoire.
As a collaborative pianist and keyboard musician, Esther has performed throughout the United States, Europe and Asia. Her performance experience includes solo and chamber recitals, vocal and instrumental collaboration, masterclasses, opera and church music. She has appeared at venues and festivals including the Seoul Arts Center and the Utrecht Early Music Festival.
Esther is based in Baltimore and serves as a collaborative pianist at Towson University, as well as organist at Roland Park Presbyterian Church. At Towson University, she works closely with students and faculty in lessons, masterclasses, recitals and other performances. Through her work as a collaborative pianist and keyboard musician, she is committed to fostering thoughtful musical collaboration and supporting performers in developing their artistry and musicianship.
