Biography

Hasan Imam Hamdani is a guitarist and composer leading the global music ensemble Imam Collective. His debut EP Solitude blends West African and Indian classical music, expressing his commitment to bridging music cultures across the world. His latest release, “Averroes” draws inspiration from the 12th-century philosopher Ibn Rushd, examining the intersection of philosophy and music.

In 2024, sponsored by the U.S. Consulate of Bosnia, Hasan Imam toured Bosnia, Serbia and Croatia with flamenco artist Mirza Redzepagic, presenting performances, workshops and a TEDx talk in Sarajevo. That same year, he joined the Silkroad Global Musician Workshop, collaborating with musicians from 51 countries. In 2025, Hasan Imam made his Kennedy Center debut.

Hasan Imam is a 2024–25 Strathmore Artist in Residence and a graduate of Berklee College of Music, where he earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in music.

Currently pursuing a Doctorate in Musical Arts at the New England Conservatory, he serves as music director of the global music ensemble at Towson University and is on the faculty at Montgomery College, where he lectures on World Music and American Music History.
