Biography

Tenor Dr. Min Jin has established a versatile and distinguished international career as a leading operatic tenor, recitalist, choral conductor, and voice pedagogue. Praised for his radiant lyricism, profound emotional intensity, and brilliant upper register, Dr. Jin has captivated audiences in opera and concert performances throughout the United States, South America, Europe, Canada, and South Korea.

An acclaimed tenor, Dr. Jin has graced world-renowned stages, including Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, appearing as a recitalist, in leading operatic roles, and as a featured soloist with prominent symphony orchestras and choral societies. His extensive operatic repertoire encompasses signature leading roles such as Rodolfo (La Bohème), Edgardo (Lucia di Lammermoor), Roméo (Roméo et Juliette), Don José (Carmen), Nemorino (L’elisir d’amore), Tamino (Die Zauberflöte), Ruggero (La Rondine), Alfredo (La Traviata), Cavaradossi (Tosca), and Des Grieux (Manon). He has collaborated with distinguished opera companies and festivals, including Maryland Opera, New Jersey State Opera, Aspen Opera Theater Center, Ann Arbor Opera, Rochester Mercury Opera, Dicapo Opera, Mannes Opera, Eastman Opera Theater, Kwangju City Opera, and Pohang City Opera.

Equally celebrated on the concert and oratorio stage, Dr. Jin has been featured as a soloist in major choral masterworks, including Handel’s Messiah, Haydn’s The Creation and The Seasons, Mozart’s Requiem and Coronation Mass, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 and Missa Solemnis, Mendelssohn’s Elijah and St. Paul, Verdi’s Requiem, Orff’s Carmina Burana, and Britten’s Serenade for Tenor, Horn and Strings. His orchestral appearances include performances with the Rochester Philharmonic, Russian National Symphony, Grand Rapids Symphony, Bay Atlantic Symphony, New Jersey Philharmonic, Yucatán Sinfonía, Toronto Philharmonia, and Quad City Symphony.

In addition to his active performing career, Dr. Jin is an accomplished choral conductor and music director. He currently serves as Music Director of the Washington Soloists Ensemble in Washington, D.C., and Bethel Church in Maryland, having previously held conducting and artistic leadership positions with the Te Deum Choir in Chicago and Central Wesleyan Church in Michigan. A dedicated advocate of vocal literature and cross-cultural music, he has released four commercial CD albums, including Come Home and the IBEATI series, and actively champions the global promotion of Korean Art Songs, recently highlighted by the 2024 publication of the Korean Art Song Collection My Longing Heart (그리움).

Dr. Jin’s artistic excellence has been recognized with first prize at the Artist International Music Competition, top honors at the Heida Hermanns International Voice Competition and the Rochester Oratorio Society Voice Competition, and finalist honors at the Enrico Caruso International Voice Competition. He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts (D.M.A.) in Voice Performance and Literature from the Eastman School of Music, as well as Master of Music degrees from Mannes College of Music. 

Currently serving as an Associate Professor of Voice at Towson University, Dr. Jin is a sought-after clinician and masterclass presenter whose studio students frequently achieve high honors in prestigious voice competitions, summer festivals, and premier young artist programs.
