Steven J Satta (aka Sache) is an actor, director, writer, speech/dialect coach, and theatre educator with credits in New York and the Baltimore/DC metro area. They are a full professor in the Dept. of Theatre Arts at Towson University, belong to the Dramatist’s Guild, the Association for Theatre in Higher Education (ATHE) and have been a member of Actor’s Equity Association. They were a founding member and served as Artistic Director of Iron Crow Theatre Company – the first queer theatre in Baltimore – until 2015.
Sache was a finalist for the Dramatist’s Guild National Fellowship 2024 and was selected for Lamda Literary Retreat for Emerging LGBTQ+ Writers. Their short play Something Blue won First Place at the 2025 10x4xTenn Festival at the University of Mississippi’s Women’s College, and Fire Escape will be produced as an audio play by Broken Arts Entertainment. Other short works: The Thousandth Crane took Audience Favorite at ArtFactory’s 2023 festival; Clifton Manor was selected for the Eileen Moushey Short Play Festival 2024; Floating Down to Camelot took 2nd Place Audience Favorite at The Acorn in 2023; The Thrill took Judges’ Choice at Short & Sweet Hollywood 2024. Full-length works: Lily, Arthur was selected for The Baltimore Playwrights Festival 2024; Floating Down to Camelot was chosen for UP Theatre’s Midwinter Reading Series; Shifting was read at Fells Point Corner Theatre’s Salon Series; The Raft was selected for both the Mid-America Theatre Conference 2024 and the Valdez Theatre Conference 2025.
