Upsilon Pi Epsilon Honor Society

The Towson University Beta Chapter of Upsilon Pi Epsilon (UPE) was established in 1991. The mission of Upsilon Pi Epsilon is to recognize academic excellence at both the undergraduate and graduate levels in the Computing and Information Disciplines. The program allows outstanding students to obtain recognition of superior educational achievement that emphasizes the Computing and Information Disciplines as well as liberal arts, sciences, and other professional and interdisciplinary education in the context of individual and societal responsibilities.

Benefits

Membership in UPE is the highest honor that a student in the computer and information sciences can receive. Members receive a free one-year membership to the Association for Computing Machinery and students are eligible for various scholarships.

Costs

Cost of membership is a total of $70.00, including the following:

  • $60.00 national initiation fee (includes UPE pin)
  • $10.00 local lifetime membership fee for new members

Eligibility is open to the following:

Undergraduate students majoring in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or Information Technology:

  • Junior status with 3.00 GPA overall
  • 18 credits of COSC/CIS coursework with 3.14 GPA in major

Undergraduate students with a minor in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or Information Technology

  • Junior status with 3.00 GPA overall
  • 12 credits of COSC/CIS coursework with 3.14 GPA in major

Graduate students in Computer Science or Applied Information Technology

  • 15 credits of COSC/AIT coursework with 3.50 GPA in major
