Programs of Study

The Towson UTeach Program provides students the opportunity to explore the profession of teaching mathematics, computer science, biology, chemistry, earth-space science, and physics while emphasizing solid content knowledge woven with pedagogical instruction specific to the STEM fields.

Students pursue teaching certification by majoring in the secondary education concentration in mathematics, computer and mathematical sciences, biology, chemistry, earth-space science, or physics. These are Bachelor of Science degree programs and include all courses required for certification.

Students must earn a grade equivalent of 2.00 or higher in all courses required for the major, including the Towson UTeach education courses.  After completing 45 credits with a minimum GPA of 3.00, students are eligible for Formal Admission to Towson UTeach.  During the final year students complete a professional internship with local public middle and high schools.  Upon graduation, students are eligible to apply for teaching certification (grades 7-12) in their chosen major in the state of Maryland with reciprocity in other states.
