We distribute incoming and outgoing mail and student packages, run TU’s intra-campus mail program, and offer UPS and bulk mail services.
TU’s Postal Services distributes more than 40,000 mail and packages to campus each year. We also receive and process outgoing mail from our nearly 25,000 students, faculty and staff. We run the intra-campus mail program and provide bulk mail services to departments sending more than 200 pieces or 50 pounds per mailing.
Student residents can retrieve letter mail through their assigned mailboxes in the University Union. Packages can be picked up at Postal Services or in dedicated lockers in the Union and Union Garage. Students are notified via their TU email when they have a package ready for pick-up. Notifications are typically sent one or two business days after the carrier’s delivery, based on the volume of packages that need to be processed. Students should bring their TU ID to pick-up.
Wait to receive email notification from TU’s Postal Services before picking up your package. If you pick up based on the carrier’s tracking info instead of TU’s notification, your package might not be ready.
Packages can be picked up at one of the three locations listed below. A notification email will direct you to the appropriate location and provide instructions for retrieval.
Students with special needs concerning mail pick-up should contact or Accessibility and Disability Services.
Contact Postal Services if you do not receive a package notification within three days of the carrier indicating delivery. Include the tracking number, recipient name and mailbox number in the email. If we have received the package, we’ll investigate its location. If we haven’t, we’ll direct you to contact the company to report and resend the lost package.
Delayed packages are often a result of incorrect or incomplete addressing. Packages for campus delivery should include the recipient’s full name and mailbox number in the address. TU’s mailing address for letters and general packages is 8000 York Road, (BUILDING NAME & ROOM NUMBER), Towson, MD 21252. Perishables, next-day and 2nd-day mail follow different addressing standards for delivery directly to the recipient’s building.
Packages that cannot fit in campus lockers will be held at Postal Services' counter. Carts are available to help students transport packages to their residence hall.
Make sure to check your TU email regularly and pick up your packages in a timely manner. Unclaimed packages are returned to the sender after 15 days of arrival.
Campus departments that wish to request or modify mail service, please contact Postal Services at 410-704-2260 or postoffice AT_TOWSON.
UPS and FedEx deliveries for faculty, staff and campus departments are handled through Central Receiving. Visit the Campus Deliveries page for more information.
