TU students moving into their dorms

School is officially in session at Towson University, with classes starting on Monday, August 28. The beginning of the fall semester brings new Tigers to town, ready to start a new chapter in their lives. Below are some “fast facts” about this year’s newcomers.

  • Approximately 2,771 freshmen and 2,330 new transfers arrived on campus for the start of the fall term.
  • TU welcomed new students from 25 other states and 14 foreign countries.
  • Approximately 2,500 of the freshmen live in on-campus housing.
  • In all, approximately 5,200 students* live in on-campus housing this fall.
  • Approximately 300 TU students volunteered to assist with campus move-in.  
  • TU’s 329-acre campus includes 26 academic buildings, 17 residence halls* and 18 dining locations.
  • TU projects a total fall 2017 headcount of 22,350, including 19,405 undergraduates and 2,945 graduate students.

* The Residence Tower, which housed 444 students, is closed for renovation until fall 2018.
