Generation One Program

Student Success Programs' Generation One (Gen One) programming provides first-generation college students at TU with tailored mentoring and guidance to foster both academic and personal accomplishment.  First Generation students are students whose parent(s) or guardian(s) have not completed a four-year degree at a college or university in the United States.

Generation One connects students who share similar experiences to share strategies to deal with difficult situations, and provide encouragement during challenging and rewarding times.

Gen One Futures Scholarship

The Gen One Futures Scholarship is administered by Towson University's Student Success Programs (SSP) and Student Government Association (SGA). Gen One Futures is designed to increase the access and success of culturally diverse undergraduate students attending Towson University. As a part of the University’s Strategic Plan, providing financial resources to first generation students would ease some of financial obligation. The first award is scheduled to be awarded for Fall 2024.

Towson University defines first-generation students as students whose parent(s) or guardian(s) have not completed a 4-year degree at a college or university in the United States.
