Towson University believes in providing outstanding support and services to all student-veterans and their families — from applicant to alumni.
In large part, owing to the vision, execution, and coalition-building of the team
at the Military & Veterans Center, Towson University (TU) has become a consistently
top-ranked school for veterans and their families.
In 2024, for a second consecutive time, TU remained a Top 100 school in the Military Times "Best for Vets" rankings and held a spot as a Top 5 Best School for Veterans in the North Region, according to U.S. News and World Report. Additionally, TU has earned “Gold Status” within the Military Friendly® rankings
three consecutive times, most notably as the #9 best large public university in the nation for 25-26.
We offer priority registration for veteran students, admission fee waivers for veteran applicants, Yellow Ribbon availability, and an active, engaged veteran community.
The Towson University Military and Veterans Center (MVC) promotes:
The MVC provides a hub for study, camaraderie and comfort. It's a place for student-veterans and family members to read, work, use public computers and other resources and enjoy the company of their like-minded peers.
“ Without the connections of the MVC community, I wouldn't have lasted a week. ”
TU student-veterans continue to serve "the public good" in many significant ways. They use their unique motivations and lessons learned from their time in the military to engage in social and civic-focused programs, learn new workplace and career skills and to transition successfully from college to their future careers aided by the mentorship of our student-veteran peer support specialists.
“ The MVC has provided me with the tools to be successful in school and in transitioning. ”
The MVC provides timely, 100 percent fulfillment of all GI Bill® and related claims, and advice for maximizing benefits. The MVC also serves, through its expert staff, as a resource space that assists and guides its members through any challenge they might face at Towson University.
“ The MVC has supported me through some of the hardest times in my life. ”
Dajaha Kenney shares how being a veteran, wife, mother and student has its challenges but the support systems she has in place give her the strength she needs to pursue her dream of helping others.
