Liz advises for all programs in Asia and is the TU representative for the Boren Awards. Liz works closely with the Faculty Committee on Study Abroad to develop policies and procedures to facilitate successful experiences for Towson students overseas and collaborates with other units to internationalize the TU campus. Liz holds an M.A. in Liberal and Professional Studies from Towson University and a B.A. in Social Sciences at Nottingham Trent University in the UK. Liz moved to the U.S. from Bristol, England in 1998 and joined the TU Study Abroad Office in 2000.
Katie advises for Latin America and Spain, administers the TU Study Abroad Scholarship program, and oversees the incoming international exchange student program. She holds an M.A. in Intercultural Communications from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County and a B.A. in Spanish with a minor in Art from Salisbury University. Katie traveled to Western Europe as a student ambassador in high school and had international education experiences in Ecuador, Mexico and Peru as an undergraduate student. Prior to her graduate studies, she returned to Ecuador for one year to work as an international programs coordinator. Katie joined the TU Study Abroad Office in 2016.
Jacklyn advises for the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, and Fiji and is the primary coordinator for our Horizons Study Abroad web-based management system. Jacklyn spent a semester studying abroad in Germany as an undergraduate. She earned an M.A. in Student Affairs in Higher Education from Indiana University in Pennsylvania and a B.A. in German and International Studies at Susquehanna University also in Pennsylvania. Jacklyn joined the Study Abroad Office in August of 2017.
Ogonna advises students interested in study abroad in the Middle East, Africa, Europe (except for the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Spain) and Semester at Sea. She is also responsible for marketing, support, and pre-departure programming for faculty-led programs. Ogonna has prior experience in education abroad at Goucher College, Notre Dame of Maryland University, and the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. She has an M.A. in Intercultural Communication from UMBC and a B.A. in Psychology from the University of California, Davis and studied abroad in Spain and Argentina. Prior to her graduate studies, she taught English in South Korea. Ogonna is fluent in Spanish and speaks a little Korean as well. Ogonna joined the office in October of 2017.
Kelsey Sobecki Study Abroad Specialist
Kelsey advises on and administers the application and admission process for faculty-led programs. She also provides administrative support for the office, facilitates programming, assists with the incoming international exchange student program, manages the student evaluation process, and plans our Study Abroad Fairs. Prior to Towson University, Kelsey worked for Duquesne University at their international campuses in Dublin, Ireland and Rome, Italy providing on-site student support and administering their programs in-country. She recently completed an M.A. in Modern and Contemporary Literature from University College Dublin and got her B.A. in Public Relations at Duquesne which included a study abroad experience in Italy. Kelsey joined the office in October of 2017.
