Adult Dance

Ideal for beginners to professionals, our adult dance classes help students gain or re-establish perspective on one's body and the joy of movement, while focusing on refining technique and building strength. All adult classes are taught by dance professionals and offered in 6-week sessions (5 weeks in the summer) throughout the year.

Parkinson's Dance 2026

Towson University Community Dance is proud to offer a free dance and movement class designed for individuals with Parkinson’s disease and their care partners. This class is informed by the Dance for PD® model and incorporates movement practices that support balance, coordination, mobility, creativity, and self-expression through dance. Participants will explore elements of dance including rhythm, musicality, and guided movement in a welcoming and supportive environment. No prior dance experience is required. The class is open to individuals with Parkinson’s at all levels of mobility, and care partners are encouraged to participate alongside their loved ones.

Jayne Bernasconi

is a dancer, choreographer, educator, author, and yoga teacher with more than four decades of experience in dance and movement. She has been a faculty member in the Department of Dance at Towson University since 2000, where she teaches modern dance, choreography, aerial dance, and yoga. A central focus of Bernasconi’s work is inclusive dance and movement for people of varied abilities and experiences. She is the founder and artistic director of Arts Ability and Forces of Ability, programs dedicated to creating meaningful dance experiences for mixed-ability youth and adults. Her teaching emphasizes exploration, individual choice, breath, alignment, balance, and the joy of moving together. Bernasconi holds an M.A. in Dance Education from Columbia University and is an E-RYT 500 yoga teacher through Yoga Alliance.

Adult Dance Information

Adult dance classes are offered with limited space in-person. Registration is still required to maintain maximum number of participants.

Registration Policy

  • NO REFUNDS available. 
  • Participants may register for classes two weeks within the start of a session; thereafter, all classes will be closed until the next session begins.
  • Registration will open within one to two weeks before a session start date.
  • Participants are entitled to two make-up classes per session. Participants may make-up no more than two classes per session. Please click here to register for a make-up class.
  • Participants must make-up class within the same or following session. Participants can not use make-up class after two sessions.

Inclement Weather Policy

We adhere to the Baltimore County Public Schools' policy on inclement weather.

Parking

All vehicles parked on campus must have a valid permit during enforcement hours:
Monday – Thursday 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Guest parking is available on the 1st floor of the Union Garage for a fee.

Street parking is available along Cross Campus Dr. for a fee and is free after 6 p.m.
