How did you find this internship?

I found this internship through the Google jobs website.

What advice on the internship application process would you give to another TU student interested in this internship?

Researching companies and learning everything about them will make your cover letter, resume, and interview stronger. Be sure to tailor your resume to the job and search for employees on LinkedIn.

What did you do as an intern at this organization?

During my internship at The Brand Guild, formerly known as BrandLink DC, a top luxury fashion, retail, and hospitality public relations company, I had the opportunity to create and write email newsletter campaigns that aided in the increase of ticket sales for the music venue, Pearl Street Warehouse. I met with notable clients to help develop a new marketing campaign promoting summer events. My critical thinking skills were enhanced through market research projects and the design of promotional mailers. I was responsible for tracking social influencers online engagement in data collection recaps and helped execute multiple events at The Yards and for the Washington Nationals.

What did you find most rewarding in your internship?

I enjoyed making connections with staff members. I also enjoyed going to client meetings and taking ownership of my ideas. I was able to work all summer on a project and see through at the events.

What were the challenges you faced in your internship?

The most challenging aspects included working for five managers while having to balance my time to get all of the projects completed. I only worked two days per week, so I felt as though I missed out on opportunities the rest of the week.

If another student at TU was interested in your internship next year, what skills would you recommend they develop in the coming semesters to prepare?

I recommend developing research skills as being able to research a company and know their target audience is important while creating a campaign. I also recommend staying on a schedule so that you are able to focus on your projects and stay on task.
