How did you find this internship?

I found this internship through Handshake.

What did you do as an intern at this organization?

I performed research for the CEO on various academic papers he was working on. I also synthesized material into various presentations for the CEO. I would research new chapters that were opening and prepared addresses for award ceremonies and website articles. I compared chapters to find the most efficient methods that communities were mobilizing against social issues and rolled out the results in a media campaign to implement across the company for the next year.

What did you find most rewarding in your internship?

The stress of the commute, a part-time job, and school on top was definitely challenging. I am proud I managed to work through it effectively. Additionally, I found my course work particularly useful for the experience. I felt challenged but comfortable throughout my role which boosted my confidence in an office setting.

If another student at TU was interested in your internship next year, what skills would you recommend they develop in the coming semesters to prepare?

First, scheduling is the most crucial aspect for me. Not only for practicality but to mentally and emotionally feel as if you are on top of all of your responsibilities. In addition, I would recommend picking an area of focus to work on. I would also recommend a singular project to work on. Last, I would recommend to stand up for your time and negotiate certain accommodations, such as quick communication and direct honesty, in order to develop self-advocacy.
