Each year, the college hosts more than 40 partner companies and organizations to network with students in the accounting program. This year's open house runs concurrently with CBE Career Ready Day (see below). The student attendance averages 300+ and all net proceeds benefit scholarships awarded to students within the program. Career Ready Day is an interactive event for all CBE students to network with business partners and learn about professional development and career preparedness topics. The event hosts recruiters in the Internship and Career Fair with concurrent breakout sessions on relevant topics for students.

Spring Career Fair

This intimate career fair is for employers looking to network exclusively with students in economics, accounting, business administration and business systems and processes (BSAP). Companies participating in the CBE Business Partnership Program are accommodated first then open to the general public. Employer of the Day (ongoing)

About the event

Employer of the Day is a unique opportunity to connect with students of the College of Business and Economics through a daylong recruiting event. A typical agenda for an Employer of the Day includes:

  • An information table located on the first floor of Stephens Hall (the building on campus where all business class are held) in a prime location just outside the Enactus Café for up to three hours;
  • Access to a class of choice (a list of available classes is updated each term) to present on the employers topic of choice. Topics generally include careers in the field of the company and preparing for business after graduation;
  • An information session for 75 minutes to go over in detail the company, internship/full-time opportunities and the application process. Question and answer is strongly encouraged;
  • Lunch at one of the campus dining facilities;
  • On-campus parking;
  • Light refreshments for the information session.

Marketing

The Employer of the Day will be marketed as such throughout Stephens Hall (home to the business school) via digital signage and bulletin boards for one week prior to the reserved date. Announcements will also be made in weekly communications distributed to all CBE students (approximately 3,000 students) for two weeks prior to the event. The participating companies may send their logo and 3-4 sentence company overview to to be used in the promotion of their company.

Fee

The fee to participate in Employer of the Day is $250. Payment must be received no later than one week prior to the date being hosted on campus.

On-Campus Interviewing

CBE Student Academic and Career Services assists in facilitating on-campus recruiting for partner companies. Interested participants may sign up for a full day to conduct on-campus interviews conveniently located in Stephens Hall. Promotion of the position(s) will take place in the weekly e-newsletter distributed to all 3,400+ CBE students. Targeted messages can be sent upon request.

There is no charge for this event when participating in the CBE Partner Program. Companies who are not a part of the CBE Partner Program will incur a $30.00 charge (this is an optional fee, which covers the cost of parking on campus (2 codes) and two meal vouchers for dining on campus). Please notify if you are opting out of the parking and meal voucher.

Payment must be received no later than one week prior to the date being hosted on campus.

Tabling in Stephens Hall

CBE Partner companies are invited to “table” on the first floor of Stephens Hall, Monday through Thursday during the 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. or 12:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. timeframes, September 1-December 1 and February 1-May 1. Attendance is free. Sign up at any time. Guests access visitor parking on the first floor of the Glen Garage. The cost is $3.00/hr. - $12.00 max.

The office of Student Academic and Career Services communicates with all CBE students (3,400+) on a weekly basis via an e-newsletter including internship and career postings. In the Business Communications course, students gain vital soft skills including presentation delivery, business writing and teamwork. Armed with these skills, students complete an approved internship for the capstone Professional Experience course-—a one-of-a-kind opportunity for both students and employers. While working at their internship in a professional setting, students concurrently reflect on their experiences in the classroom with their peers. Through this program—which is required for business administration, e-business and accounting majors—students make the transition from classroom to career.

For employers, the professional experience course functions similarly to a new-hire training program. While students are working for you, you will see them progress and improve over time.

TU Match is a free, personalized placement program designed to help businesses fill internship and full-time positions. This premier service is offered to select companies looking to form long-term partnerships.
