Fieldwork

Welcome to the exciting world of fieldwork!

All occupational therapy students participate in fieldwork experiences throughout the program.  Three Level I Fieldwork experiences are offered in conjunction with academic courses.  Six months is spent in Level II Fieldwork where students apply theories, knowledge and skills commensurate with the entry-level qualifications of a professional occupational therapist. Students must complete both Level II Fieldwork experiences within 24 months following completion of academic preparation.

Level II Fieldwork is a full-time commitment often requiring additional time for preparation on the evenings and weekends. Students cannot enroll in other courses and are advised to eliminate employment during this time. While local sites (within 90 miles of the university) are available, students may need to be assigned out of the local area or out of the state for one or both of the fieldwork experiences.

For fieldwork related questions or concerns, students in the program may schedule individual meetings with the Academic Fieldwork Coordinator.
