Towson offers the only applied master's program in women's and gender studies in Maryland and the only master's program in the field in Baltimore.
Towson is a leader in creating programs that explore women’s and gender issues. This interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary graduate program provides you with a solid academic foundation to pursue your personal and professional goals. The program emphasizes applied research methods and skills, preparing you for careers in a variety of public and private, national and international, and corporate and nonprofit organizations.
You need not wait until graduation to apply your knowledge. Research and internship opportunities are available in Baltimore, Washington, Philadelphia and the surrounding region. If you seek workplace experience but cannot devote the time for a full internship, consider the field experience, a 3-unit internship.
Depending on your interests and career goals, tailor the program to meet your needs. Choose from the following three concentrations:
Women, Health and Sexuality Concentration — Focus on women's health and sexuality from a holistic, interdisciplinary and feminist perspective.
Women in an International Context Concentration — Explore how women experience globalization, nationalism, colonialism and other social movements in different cultures.
Women, Leadership & Social Change Concentration — Discover how public policy is made and applied from a feminist perspective.
