Fisher Student Scholars

We are proud of our Fisher Scholars and all of their accomplishments both prior to entering and while attending Towson University.  Learn about the current Fisher Student Scholars, their year of admission, the specific scholarship they were awarded, and a brief background at the time of their matriculation. 

Jennafer Buckshaw, 2022

Jess Fisher FCSM Scholarship

Jennafer graduated from Mount Hebron High School in Howard County, Maryland and is enrolled as a forensic chemistry major at Towson University in the fall 2022. While at Mount Hebron High School, Jennafer also took classes at the Biotechnology Career Academy for Howard County Public Schools where she enrolled in advanced coursework in topics related to the application of Biotechnology in Forensic Science, Virology, Microbial Ecology, Genetic and Inherited Diseases among others.  She was involved in the schools Dance club and multiple other extracurricular clubs. After graduating from Towson University, Jennafer plans to continue on towards a Ph.D and then workiin the field of forensic science.

Mackenzie Dupre, 2022

Jess Fisher Pre-Engineering Scholarship

Mackenzie graduated from Upper St. Clair High School in Upper St. Clair, Pennsylvania and is enrolled as a molecular biology, biochemistry and bioinformatics major at Towson University in the fall 2022. At Upper St. Clair High School, Mackenzie was on the honor roll and dean's list academically, and she was a member of the National Honor Society and the National Academy of Future Physicians and Medical Scientists.  Her extracurricular activities included being a member of the school soccer and track teams, a mathematics tutor, and a volunteer with the St. Bernard Lunch for the Homeless Program.  After graduating from Towson University, Mackenzie plans to continue her education, and she aspires to make a difference in the world as a strong female leader in the Biomedical Engineering Field

Kali Ferguson, 2021

Jess Fisher Pre-Engineering Scholarship

Kali graduated from Forest Park High School in Woodbridge, Virgina and is enrolled as a computer science major at Towson University in the fall 2021.  Kali was co-founder and leader of the Brain Buddies club at her high school.  This club fosters socialization and academics neuroatypical and neurotypical students both during and after school.  She was also the P.R officer of her high school's Leadership Council.  After graduating from Towson University, Kali wants to work with other software developers to create new and more efficient environmental safeguards like earthquake detection systems.

Leonard Johnson, 2021

Jess Fisher FCSM Scholarship

Leonard graduated from Huntington High School in Calvert County, Maryland and is enrolled as a mathematics major at Towson University in the fall 2021.  At Huntington High School. Leonard was a Mathematics Club executive officer, and also was a leader in the competition committee of the Mu Alpha Theta National Mathematics Honor Society.  Some of his extra-curricular activities include active participation in the Rubik's Cube, Tae Kwon Do, Chess and Stock Market clubs.  Leonard is very active in programs of his church. After graduating from Towson University, Leonard plans to complete graduate study in actuarial science and then work as an actuary or mathematician.

Clarence Powell Jr., 2021

Jess Fisher Pre-Engineering Scholarship

Clarence graduated from DeMatha Catholic High School in Prince George's County, Maryland and is enrolled as a Computer Science with a Cyber Operations Track major at Towson University in the Fall 2021.  Clarence was an active member in the National Society of Black Engineers Summer Experience for Kids.  While in this program, he was the team leader for the battery operated wood car project which won second place in the national competition.  Clarence was a four-year member of the DeMatha Track and Field team and ran in the sprint races.  Outside of school, he worked for Margaret's Open Arms, an non-profit organization that collects and distributes clothing to people in need.  After earning his undergraduate degree, Clarence plans to continue at Towson in the Master's in Computer Science with a Track in Computer Security program.  Upon completing his master's degree, Clarence plans to join the cybersecurity workforce.

Colin Choudhary, 2020

Jess Fisher Pre-Engineering Scholarship

Colin graduated from Linganore High School in Frederick County, Maryland and enrolled in the computer science and engineering dual-degree program at Towson University in the fall of 2020. Colin was the president of the Linganore Chapter of the National Honor Society and  competed many Advanced Placement courses.  He also participated in the Project Lead the Way Program which introduces students to different fields of engineering.  Some of his extracurricular activities include playing on the schools travel soccer team, maintaining a lawn-care business and musical performances and compositions.  After graduating from Towson University, Colin wants to be able to work on producing sustainable energy projects and designing innovative farming techniques.

Grace Larocque, 2020

Jess Fisher FCSM Scholarship

Grace graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy in St. Johnsbury, Vermont and enrolled as a mathematics major with a concentration in actuarial science and risk management at Towson University in the fall of 2020.  Grace completed many Advanced Placement courses, and she was the treasurer of her school's National Honor Society. Grace was the only student in Vermont to earn a Gold Medal in the National Spanish Exam.  Among her many extra-curricular activities are volunteer fundraising for the American Cancer Society, American Red Cross and the Alzheimer's Association.  She held a leadership position in the Senior Dance Company, and she is a classically trained pianist.  After graduating from Towson University, Grace plans to continue her career in actuarial science and risk management.

Angelique Sumilang, 2020

Jess Fisher FCSM Scholarship

Angelique graduated from Fallston High School in Harford County, Maryland and is enrolled as a Biology major at Towson University in the Fall 2020.  At Fallston High School, Angelique ranked first in her class and was the president of the Science National Honor Society.  As a junior, she received the school's award as the outstanding student in science and mathematics.  Outside of the classroom, Angelique is was a volunteer in the food services area at a local homeless shelter, volunteered in the Emergency and Pre-Operations departments at the Upper Chesapeake Medical Center, and taught swimming and water safety to children.  After graduating from Towson University, Angelique plans to devote herself to helping people and improving the lives of others. 

Hannah Little, 2019

Jess Fisher FCSM Scholarship

Hannah graduated from Boonsboro High School in Washington County, Maryland and enrolled as a physics major at Towson University in the fall of 2019.  Hannah was a member of the National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta - the Mathematics Honor Society.  In addition she was on the Boonsboro Quiz Bowl team, which went to the national tournament last year.  Hannah also participated in the Physics Olympics.  Some of her extracurricular activities include being a Girl Scout troop leader and a teaching assistant in the College for Kids program at Hagerstown Community College.  After graduating from Towson University, Hannah plans to either pursue a career in medicine or scientific research.

Phuong Dinh Nguyen, 2019

Jess Fisher FCSM Scholarship

Phuong Dinh graduated from Eastern Technical High School in Baltimore County, Maryland and enrolled as a computer science major at Towson University in the fall 2019.  Phuong Dinh was the president of the National Art Honor Society and the historian of her graduating class.  In addition she was a student lead for the school's CyberPatriot team.  Phuong's extracurricular activities included being in her school's drama production, participating on the robotics team, and interning at the Department of Defense.  After graduating from Towson University, Phuong Dinh plans to either pursue a graduate degree in computer science.

Taylor Pettaway, 2019

Jess Fisher Pre-Engineering Scholarship

Taylor graduated from Riverdale Baptist School in Prince Georges County, Maryland and enrolled as a physics major at Towson University in the fall of 2019. Taylor was a member of both the National Honor Society and the Spanish National Honor Society.  In addition she was vice-president of her senior class.  Among her extracurricular activities were playing on her schools varsity softball team and the girls varsity soccer team, on which she was the captain.  After graduating from Towson University, Taylor plans to earn a maser's degree in electrical engineering and then work for a major corporation.

Alexandra Reifer, 2019

Jess Fisher FCSM Scholarship

Alexandra graduated from Patterson Mill High School in Harford County, Maryland and enrolled as a biology major at Towson University in the fall of 2019, with interest in the Pre-Engineering program.  Alexandra was a member of the National Honor Society, the Art National Honor Society and the Spanish National Honor Society.  Among her extra-curricular activities, she was the captain of her high school girl's basketball team, and she was a student mentor.  After graduating from Towson University, Alexandria plans to either pursue a career in military engineering or to attend medical school and become a surgeon.

Brett Weeks, 2019

Jess Fisher FCSM Scholarship

Brett graduated from Edgewood High School in Harford County, Maryland and enrolled as a biology major in fall 2019.  At Edgewood High School, Brett took IB Chemistry and IB Sports, Exercise and Health Science courses.  The IB courses are university-level content and pedagogy, and involved designing and implementing novel investigations in chemistry and other scientific fields.  Brett's extracurricular activities included: his high school marching and concert bands, mathematics honor society, captain of the junior varsity tennis team, and being on the It's Academic and Science Olympiad teams.  After graduating from Towson University, Brett plans to attend medical school with the goal of becoming a neurosurgeon.
